2009-09-04 - SIMBL for Leopards (both of them)

I have a version that seems to work on both Leopard and Snow Leopard. Existing bundles should load fine, providing they are recompiled cleanly. For instance, PithHelmet doesn't work yet natively in 64-bit mode since I have to get it compiling against the new APIs. However, I successfully loaded a trivial plugin into a 64-bit Safari.

This should be considered beta quality. In 5 years, I had one actual bug reported against SIMBL, but this is very different code with a very different mechanism. I have some ideas on how to increase reliability and minimze system impact. For now, I wanted to give other developers a chance to test it out. I should have a new version and a source release soon - maybe this weekend.

新しいSIMBLはこれまでのInputManagerではなく
/Library/ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax にインストールされ、ファイルの種類も"スクリプティング機能追加"となります。
また、SIMBL Agentと言うプロセスが動作します。


SIMBLプラグインの対応状況

また、プラグインも64bitに対応していないと動作しません。
また、これまでのSIMBLとは動作の仕組みが異なることから、Mike Solomon氏はデベロッパーにフィードバックを求めています。
現時点では以下のプラグインが動作することを確認しました。

(動作することを確認しただけで細かい機能懸賞は実施していません）

おそらく、来週辺りからその他のプラグインも対応が始まると思われます。

また、SIMBLのSnowLeopard対応版がリリースされたため、canberland氏が公開したSafariSIMBLは公開が取りやめになっています。

既知の問題点

SIMBL 0.9.1bをインストールすると、プレビュー.appやスティッキーズ、テキストエディット等OSに付属するアプリケーションを起動した際に"Choose Application"と言うウィンドウが表示されます。煩わしいですが、キャンセルしてもアプリは起動します。
